COVID-19 Statement

Greetings from the lake! We hope this day finds you and your loved ones healthy and well.

We are staying in touch daily with many experts in the camping industry, both at the state and national level, who are helping campgrounds such as ours navigate this situation. Our number one priority is the health and well-being of our guests, our staff, our community and our families.

We also wish to honor the work of our doctors and nurses, EMT’s, ambulance drivers, and all medical staff. We want to be a part of the solution so that grocery workers, bus and tractor trailer drivers, warehouse fulfillment workers, and all other essential workers can go home to their families safely. To do this, we are committed to flattening the curve by staying at home while these orders are in place.

Best,

The Keen Sisters

WILL YOU BE OPEN AND IS IT SAFE TO CAMP AND STAY IN RENTAL UNITS?

Every day brings changes to the landscape. We, like you, are holding on to our optimism and looking forward to the bright days ahead. We have shuffled our season dates and plan to open May 15th. Our closing date will be October 25th. At this juncture, all Pennsylvania campgrounds are guided by the mandates of the State of Pennsylvania. The State requires that gathering at campsites or rental units is limited to the family who has checked into that site or accommodation and that all such visitors be long-term guests who are sheltering in self-contained RVS or accommodations. This order is in place until May 8th. We will remain closed until the Stay at Home order is lifted. We will also open facilities and amenities as Social Distancing rules are relaxed. We will update this information as changes are made.

While we are under the stay at home order, we are working remotely from our homes. We are indeed available for questions and more from Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) by phone at (570) 488-6161 or by email at camping@keenlake.com.

WILL YOUR FACILITIES BE OPEN?

All facilities will be closed until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. These include the game room, movie lounge, pool, fire pit, pavilion, playground and bath houses. The laundry room will be available by appointment. In addition, Camp Umpy’s Wash and Fold Laundromat, 348 Erie Street, Honesdale, (570) 253-9000 is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

ARE VISITORS PERMITTED?

For the health and safety of our guests and team members, guest’s visitors are not permitted on the property until further notice in order to maintain social distancing.

WHERE CAN WE GET FOOD?

Most grocery stores are still open and many local restaurants are open for takeout. Our local supermarket, Hayes Shur Fine Market (located 1 mile from the lake at 686 Roosevelt Highway, Waymart, PA) is open. Online ordering is available and Keen Lake is a designated drop-off point.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?

We too, are experiencing the impact COVID-19 is having on the world and understand that you may need to change your travel plans. Let us first encourage you to change your date if at all possible. As a small family-owned and operated business, we would love the opportunity to host you later this season and we are happy to make date adjustments at no charge. If that is not possible, we are here to support you by being as flexible as we can with our cancellation policy. Please contact our office to discuss your options.

WHAT IF SOMEONE AT KEEN LAKE IS DIAGNOSED WITH THE VIRUS?

Anyone with symptoms of the Covid-19 virus should follow CDC guidelines, contact their health care provider and self-quarantine for at least 14 days. If we are made aware that someone in the park has tested positive for COVID-19, Keen Lake is committed to notifying guests and staff immediately.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MAINTAIN CLEAN AND SANITIZED FACILITIES?

We are taking advantage of this time to thoroughly clean and sanitize our park, and once we reopen our facilities, our team will be working diligently to ensure the safest and most sanitary environment for our guests.
Please note:

IS THE DRINKING WATER SAFE?

The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. Keen Lake wells are tested regularly.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO?

While our “normal activity schedule” is currently suspended, there are still plenty of things you can do on site to still have fun! Our activity team is working hard to provide you with at site activities, crafts and games.

Social distancing doesn’t have to mean losing your sense of community! Take this quiet time to connect with a loved one or even someone you don’t normally talk to via phone, email, or video chat. Reach out to those at higher risk to see if they need assistance. Do what you can to help someone today.

Remember that fresh air and vitamin D are very important to your overall well-being both mentally and physically! Take the time to stretch and breathe. Grab your kayak or paddleboard. Being on the water is a wonderful way to decompress. Read that book you’ve been meaning to or simply relax in the fresh air.

Anglers, throw a line in the water. (Remember that you must get your license on line@www.pa.wildlifelicense.com) Simply keep the license on your phone to be able to show if you are asked. Those of you who have a paper license are asked to take a photo of it and store it on your phone also.

Campfires are the heart and soul of any great camping experience. We want our guests to enjoy this wonderful camping tradition. Campfires are still safe, as long as you limit those around the fire to the people who arrived with you. This a is a great time to hear stories from the past, make up a silly or scary campfire tale, or try a new campfire recipe!

You are still welcome to explore the grounds, go for walk with your dog, ride a bike– as long as you practice safe social distancing.

Please observe posted rules. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

HOW CAN I DO MY PART?

We ask that you follow our new procedures set in place for your protection as well as our staff’s. What we do today will affect us all tomorrow.

The Center for Disease Control recommends taking the following steps to protect yourself:

  • Clean your hands often. Wash your hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds (Sing “Happy Birthday” to yourself twice) especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not available, please use hand sanitizer. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until dry.
  • Avoid touching your mouth, your eyes and your nose.
  • Practice social distancing- maintain 6ft of space between you and others to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Throw used tissues in the trash immediately.
  • Immediately wash or sanitize your hands.
  • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.
  • Please stay home if you are sick or are feeling sick.
  • For a complete list of CDC recommendations please visit them online.

While our 2020 camping season may look a bit different than the past, we are eager to begin, let us use this year to reflect, to grow and to embrace changes. If there are other ways, we can better serve you, please let us know!

We are excited to gather, in a new way, at the lake!
